Kornati National Park

Kornati islands, are a group of more than 100 islands, islets and underwater reefs in the Zadar archipelago, where you can find many bays with crystal clear sea. The Kornati islands are named after the largest island Kornat, which is about 32 km2 and on which is located the settlement Vrulje, the largest impermanently inhabited place  and port. There are no water sources in the entire archipelago, except for a few smaller wells in the Statival bay on the island of Kornat. Kornati is a nautical paradise and a feast for the eyes.

The phenomenon of Kornati Park is the “Krone”, these are vertical cliffs facing the open sea. They were formed as a result of geological events. The crowns represent the surface of a tectonic fault that stretches from Istria to central Dalmatia and is the result of Africa’s global shift to the north and its influx to Europe.
